Silverstar layed down by the stream and got a drink of the water. She sighed and layed her head on her paws.

Silverstar dived into the water and picked up the kit in her mouth. She swimed onto the shore. "Are you ok?" she asked the wet kit.

Spiritstrike rushed up and asked, "Silverstar, is everything all right? I heard a kit squeal." Then she looked at the kit dangling from her leader's jaw and understood.

The kit coughed up water, and squealed:
"MAMMA! Mamma, you came back! Oh, mamma, I love you!" The kit circled Silverstar's legs, then curled up and mewled, "Mamma, don't die again, I missed you too much. And after you left, daddy went mad. He jumped off a huge cliff. A-and I walk sooo far to find you. The no-furs took your body, but I knew you'd get out! I love you Mamma!"

Silverstar looked confused. "Little kit, I'm not your mother. I've never had kits in my life," she meowed. Her tail twitched sadly. Although I'd love to have kits, Silverstar thought.

Silverstar didn't want to break the kits heart, but she told her the truth. "I'm sorry, but I'm not. But, if you want, I could adopt you." she mewed.
